I, ME, MYSELF
Born 1963, I was graduated from Meenakshi College, Chennai, in History. In 1986 I joined Ejji Domestic Services, as an office assistant. Learning the trade practically by going to the work spots, I rose to the level of Chief Executive in the company.
When Ejji decided to retire from business in 1991, I took over as the Managing Partner of the company. As I wanted to work only for 20 years like Ejji, I closed a popular, highly appreciated and money making business on 31st October 2005. My calling card now lists my occupation as “Rat Race Runner (Retd.)”, which is Ejji’s former “designation” on his retirement.
Even after close of the business, my former clients, who now are my social friends, still consult me on specific problems, of course without any charges for my advice.
I am an Independent Lady member of The Madras Gymkhana Club, and was perhaps the youngest in the category when I joined the Club many years ago.
A past member of Rotary International, I have addressed many womens’ fora focusing on “Women Entrepreneurs”.
I am a firm believer in equal rights for men and women. I am very vocal in advocating independence for all women especially in India, and suggests they must have an independent identity instead of living life as an unpaid servant and child-producing machine, once married.
I have contributed many articles on “Building Maintenance” to magazines and addressed workshops on the same topic.
My hobbies include: Travel, Music, Watching Cricket, and Tennis.
After retirement I have traveled extensively and caught up on my reading, which I had to deny myself as the MD of a popular business, when I was literally on call 28 hours of the day, 8 days a week. I hope to do all things I always loved to do but did not have the time, last 20 years!
